A hospital in Fort Myers is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Cardiac Progressive Care Unit. This position offers the opportunity to care for patients with cardiac conditions who require a higher level of monitoring and clinical intervention than a traditional medical-surgical setting while not requiring intensive care services.
Position Overview
The Cardiac PCU RN provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac events, procedures, and interventions. This role involves continuous patient assessment, telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes.
Working in a progressive care environment, the nurse plays a vital role in identifying changes in patient condition, coordinating care, and ensuring safe transitions throughout the recovery process.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care to patients in a cardiac progressive care setting
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry findings
• Perform ongoing assessments and identify changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on patient needs
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, medications, lifestyle modifications, and discharge plans
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Support patient safety initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices
• Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care efforts
Qualifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience within the last 2 years required
• Strong assessment, telemetry monitoring, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage patients with varying levels of cardiac acuity in a fast-paced environment
