Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Shift: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM (12-Hour Days)
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to join a leading acute care hospital in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills and experience caring for patients requiring close monitoring and intermediate-level care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Pennsylvania or Compact License if applicable)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and progressive care nursing
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions requiring continuous assessment.
  • Interpret telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments per physician orders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.

Schedule Requirements

  • 13-week contract
  • 12-hour Day Shift (7:00 AM 7:00 PM)
  • Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
  • Must be available to work all three scheduled shifts each week throughout the 13-week assignment.

Preferred Skills

  • Telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment
  • Experience caring for high-acuity medical and cardiac patients
