A hospital in Fort Myers is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Medical Progressive Care Unit. This role offers the opportunity to care for patients requiring an intermediate level of care, providing close monitoring and clinical support for individuals whose needs exceed those of a traditional medical-surgical unit but do not require intensive care.

Position Overview

The Medical PCU RN is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to a diverse medical population. This role involves ongoing assessment, clinical monitoring, medication administration, care coordination, and patient education. Working alongside physicians and interdisciplinary team members, the nurse helps ensure safe, effective care throughout hospitalization and supports successful transitions to the next level of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients on a medical progressive care unit
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for changes in condition
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions according to physician orders
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
• Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Support patient safety initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices
• Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care efforts

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience within the last 2 years required
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced acute care environment
