A hospital in Fort Myers is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Progressive Care Unit with a focus on orthopedic patient care. This role offers the opportunity to work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and procedures while providing a higher level of monitoring and support than a traditional medical-surgical setting.
Position Overview
The Orthopedic PCU RN delivers direct patient care to individuals requiring progressive-level monitoring during recovery. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, administering treatments and medications, coordinating care plans, and supporting safe recovery and discharge processes.
This position works closely with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive comprehensive, patient-centered care throughout their hospital stay.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic patients in a progressive care setting
• Monitor patient conditions and identify changes requiring intervention
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and recovery plans
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities
• Promote patient safety and adherence to evidence-based nursing practices
• Support smooth transitions of care and discharge planning efforts
Qualifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience within the last 2 years required
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Experience caring for orthopedic patients is beneficial but not required
