Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Fully Remote (California Residents Only)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Status: Contract (6 months with strong potential for extension and long-term conversion)

We're partnering with a leading healthcare organization seeking a Registered Nurse to support utilization review and post-service medical necessity determinations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys independent work, critical thinking, and making a direct impact on care quality and outcomes behind the scenes. The team is looking for someone long-term who can grow with the organization and potentially convert to a permanent role.

What You'll Do

• Perform outpatient post-service reviews to assess medical necessity for services already rendered
• Evaluate cases for medical necessity, coding accuracy, and compliance with medical policies and contracts
• Triage and prioritize cases to meet strict turnaround times in a production-focused environment
• Prepare and present cases to Medical Directors for approval, denial, and clinical determination
• Communicate determinations to providers in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Identify quality of care concerns or delays in treatment and escalate appropriately
• Partner with Case Management, Appeals, and Quality teams to support patient outcomes
• Contribute to process improvements and standardization of clinical review workflows

What You Bring

• Active California RN license required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (minimum required)
• Must be based in California
• Strong clinical background with experience in post-service review, prior authorization, utilization review, or case management
• Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workload
• Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable navigating multiple systems and working in a fully remote environment
• Strong communication skills when interacting with providers and internal stakeholders

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rancho Cordova, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
