Position Title: Registered Nurse – Renal / Medical-Surgical (Travel Assignment)
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Unit: 2S Renal – Medical/Surgical & Transplant Care Unit
Employment Type: Travel / Contract
Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
Holiday Requirement: Required
Float Requirement: Required
Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care for renal, transplant, and medical-surgical patients in a high-acuity inpatient unit, including dialysis care, post-transplant recovery, and complex medical conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care for renal, transplant, and medical-surgical patients
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Monitor post-kidney transplant and recovery patients
- Perform peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler)
- Care for complex renal and multisystem conditions
- Monitor telemetry patients when assigned
- Administer medications and evaluate patient responses
- Document care accurately in EMR systems
- Collaborate with nephrology and transplant teams
- Educate patients and families on renal and transplant care
- Maintain infection control and patient safety standards
- Float to other units as required
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Active RN license in Ohio or Compact License required
- Diploma in Nursing required (BSN preferred)
- BLS (AHA) required
- Medical-surgical or renal nursing experience preferred
- Dialysis or transplant experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in high-acuity hospital environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to float to other units
