Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but not limited to:
1. Delivers educational presentations on a variety of health topics to the residents of the community.
2. Coordinated educational programs for the public.
3. Represents WCCH in activities sponsored by other agencies.
4. Conducts patient assessment and charts the health and psychosocial conditions of patients.
5.Performs tasks associated with walk-in patients to include Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived lab tests, weight checks, patients' instructions, and public health services as lice checks, sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, and tuberculosis TB testing.
6. Prepares and dispenses medications and administers injections ordered by the Physician as per WCCH protocols.
7. Refills medications for patients as per WCCH protocols.
8. Responds to patient complaints, concerns, and questions in a manner that meets their physical and emotional needs.
9. Examines immunizations records and gives necessary immunizations. Enters records into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
10. Obtains specimens or draws blood for diagnostic procedures as directed by a Physician, to include influenza tests, streptococcal infections tests, pregnancy tests, urine tests, prothrombin time/international normalized ratio (PT/INR) tests, Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) tests, audiograms, etc.
11. Maintains and monitors examination room equipment and medical supplies. Cleans and replaces equipment as necessary. Monitors available supplies and restocks exam rooms as needed.
12. Consults with office staff or other health care professionals regarding patient care.
13. Triages patents on the telephone/and or the Internet.
14. Assists patients and provides education, counseling, case-management, and follow-up treatment.
15. Provides breasts feeding education to prenatal and postpartum patients.
16. Maintains and or manages lead results per Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) guidelines, which may require going into patient's homes.
17. Assists with public relations programs within the community.
18. Conducts community immunizations clinics, administers vaccines as appropriate for age and history of patient.
19. Properly sterilizes instruments through the use of the autoclave. Provides upkeep to the autoclave.
20. Works in the Evening clinic, as appropriate.
Education and/or Experience: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. Two to five-years of previous experience in a health-related environment is required. Additional required licenses and certifications include:
Licensure and the ability to maintain a current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Certification of the ability to obtain and maintain a certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Tuberculosis (TB) skin test certification.
Lactation Specialist certification is desired.
