Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly-skilled and compassionate RN to deliver exceptional patient care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Chippenham Hospital. In this role you will provide critical care nursing to patients with potentially life-threatening heart conditions, from myocardial infarctions and coronary interventions to heart failure and heart transplantation. What you will do in this role:

  • As a registered nurse in the CVICU you will provide therapeutic care of seriously and critically ill patients for a variety of heart diseases and conditions, including resuscitation.
  • You will provide care to immediate post-op coronary artery by-pass patients, valve repair/ replacements, and patients following MAZE procedures, and participate in patient/family education.
  • Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, cardiac specialists and patient care staff, you will administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the facility.
  • During every shift you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions utilizing our computerized documentation systems.
  • When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customer, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness and much more.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
  • 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
  • 1 year of critical care (ICU) nursing experience preferred.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
