Job Summary
Provides direct patient care in the Cardiopulmonary Department. Evaluates, educates, and prepares patients for various procedures, stress tests, TEE echos, EKG, and holter monitors. Assists in performance of various procedures by assessing and monitoring patients and giving medication ordered by the physician. Also assists in providing RN coverage in the imaging department on an as-needed basis. Monitors patients during exercise sessions and procedures. Nursing responsibilities focus on the preventive and restorative healthcare needs of the cardiovascular patient. Provides patient education on disease entities, cardiac risk factors, behavior modification. Communicates with the patients physician about changes in the patients clinical condition, including laboratory tests and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patients condition and response to treatment. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
