Direct Hire | Full-Time | Evening/Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts

A leading healthcare organization in Galesburg, Illinois is seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join its Level II Trauma Emergency Department. This is a great opportunity for an experienced ED nurse looking to join a collaborative team while caring for a diverse patient population across all ESI levels.

Position Overview

The Emergency Room RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, prioritizing care based on acuity and supporting patients through a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of Emergency Room/Emergency Department nursing experience, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Incentives

• Hourly Pay: $34.25–$51.13/hr
• Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
• 3rd Shift Differential: +$4.00/hr
• Weekend Differential: +$3.25/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to Emergency Department patients
• Assess and prioritize patients based on acuity and ESI level
• Monitor patients and respond appropriately to changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, EMTs/paramedics, and other members of the care team
• Assist with emergency interventions and stabilization of patients
• Respond to hospital codes and Rapid Response Teams (RRT) when needed
• May occasionally assist other units based on hospital needs
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation

Requirements

Experience

• 2+ years of Emergency Room/Emergency Department RN experience required

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Illinois RN license OR confirmation that the IL license application process has been initiated
• BLS required
• ACLS required

Emergency Department Details

• Level II Trauma Center
• 11 ED rooms
• 2 dedicated trauma rooms
• 3 fast-track areas
• Approximately 58 ED patients treated per day
• Patient assignments based on ESI acuity
• Phillips patient monitoring systems
• No dedicated monitor technician in the ED
• Charge nurse present at all times and may take a patient assignment
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters available
• Approximately 1:10 support staff ratio
• Respiratory Therapy available in the ER 24/7
• RNs do not draw laboratory specimens; no dedicated phlebotomy role
• Any color scrubs permitted

Patient Population

The Emergency Department cares for patients across all ESI levels, providing nurses with exposure to a broad range of emergency and acute-care presentations.

Schedule

• Evening/Night Shift
• 12-hour shifts
• Shift options:
• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Every other weekend required: Saturday & Sunday
• Every other holiday required
• No routine floating requirements
• May occasionally assist other units when needed
