The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing medical emergencies. This role involves triaging, assessing, and providing immediate care in a fast-paced environment. ER RNs work collaboratively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver rapid care for a wide range of medical conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Assesses, delegates, coordinates, and evaluates the nursing care provided. Ensures provision of quality care for selected groups of patients through utilization of nursing process, established standards of care, policies and procedures. This RN is responsible for the direction and supervision of any personnel assigned to them.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon arrival, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms.
- Triage: Prioritize patients based on the severity of their condition, ensuring that critical cases are attended first.
- Emergency Care: Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as per physician orders. Perform emergency procedures like wound care, and splinting.
- Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatments, adjusting interventions as needed.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the medical team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, treatment plans, and responses to care in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts as required.
- Patient Education: Provide patients and families with information regarding diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care instructions.
- Emergency Response: Respond to rapid response calls, code blue situations, or any critical situation requiring immediate intervention.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure that the patient’s rights, dignity, and preferences are respected at all times while providing care.
- Infection Control: Follow all infection control protocols to minimize the risk of infection for patients and healthcare staff.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in the ongoing evaluation of care quality and suggest improvements in processes or procedures to optimize patient outcomes.

- Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: BSN.
Licenses/ certifications/ registrations
Required: Current RN license in the State of Oregon. ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certification required.
Preferred: Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty preferred.
Experince
Required: None required.
Preferred: Previous Clinical Experience.
