Job Description

The House Supervisor is accountable and responsible for all hospital activities on the evening, night, and weekend shifts. This responsibility involves assisting nursing staff with problem solving in patient care issues and assuming responsibility for the functions of ancillary departments, partially or not staffed, during these shifts. This role provides leadership in the area of clinical practice, education, administration, research and consultation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical supervision, making rounds on both units, EPACU, PACU/OR, ascertaining that quality nursing , family centered care, and growth and development principles for infants, children and adolescents are provided.
  • Communicates effectively to the Administrator, Director of Patient Care Services, and Chief of Staff any emergency or concern regarding patients or hospital environment.
  • Performs rapid assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care of immediate post operative patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Code Blue procedure during an actual or “Mock” code. Replaces supplies/meds after each use.
  • Evaluates daily the care plan for each assigned patient according to outcomes and documents in the nurse’s notes.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel and students.
  • Demonstrates effective use of problem solving, conflict management, and teambuilding skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • BSN
  • License in state of practice
  • BLS
  • 3 years nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year nursing supervisor experience
  • 2 years critical care
  • 2 years pediatric experience
The pay range for this position is $51.36 - $99.51. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
