Job Summary
The Interventional Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing interventional and diagnostic procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessment and education, intra-procedural monitoring, and post-procedure care. The nurse collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe sedation, hemodynamic stability, and procedural efficiency in accordance with hospital policies and best practices.
Essential Functions
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans for patients undergoing interventional procedures.
Collaborates with the physician to administer and monitor moderate sedation, maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Monitors and documents patient vitals, hemodynamic data, and reactions throughout the procedure.
Assists with set-up, circulation, and scrubbing duties for a range of cardiac, vascular, and radiologic procedures, including:
Left and right heart catheterizations, Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), Thrombectomies, aortograms, venograms, fistulograms, Dialysis catheter placements/removals, Interventional radiology (biopsies, nephrostomy tubes, paracentesis, pain management), and Supports patient education pre- and post-procedure, including discharge instructions.
Ensures emergency equipment is operational and stock levels are adequate prior to procedures.
Maintains HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Provides support in hemostasis and responds to bleeding or access site complications.
Demonstrates initiative and professionalism in performing duties with minimal supervision.
Documents nursing care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
