Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical

Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care hospital. The ideal candidate will have recent Med/Surg experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or a hospital of similar or greater size and be comfortable managing a diverse patient population with minimal orientation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical/Surgical patients.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Start peripheral IVs, draw laboratory specimens, and monitor telemetry patients.
  • Accurately document patient care using the electronic medical record system.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
  • Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent Medical/Surgical experience (within the past 2 years) in an acute care hospital of similar size or higher.
  • Experience working in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers or hospitals of comparable size.
  • Proficient in IV insertion, laboratory specimen collection, and telemetry monitoring.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Previous experience in high-acuity acute care settings.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be available to work every other weekend and some holidays.
  • Requests for excessive time off or fixed workdays will not be accommodated.
