    Description

A Registered Nurse – Surgery opportunity is available in Overland Park, KS at a 150+ bed acute care hospital and ER that is home to a Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence, a certified Breast Center of Excellence, and the region's only Genitourinary Cancer clinic.

The role. Reporting within the surgical services team, this RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary group that includes surgeons, surgical technologists, and other providers to deliver safe, patient-centered perioperative care. The nurse evaluates patients prior to surgery, provides education to patients and families about the procedure and perioperative process, and assumes responsibility for patient preparation — including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification. Throughout each shift, the RN applies the nursing process, critical thinking, and scientific judgment to assess and monitor patient condition, document changes, and respond to emergencies. Active participation in surgical site verification protocols — including briefing, time-out, debriefing, and universal protocols per hospital policy — is a core expectation of this position.
