Registered Nurse (RN)-Restorative Nursing

In this role, you'll work closely with residents, rehabilitation professionals, nursing staff, and the interdisciplinary care team to support individualized restorative nursing programs designed to maintain or improve each resident's highest level of function.

Responsibilities

As a Restorative Nurse, you will carry out designated restorative programs with identified residents, which may include:

• Provide day-to-day oversight, guidance, and support to Restorative Aides, helping ensure restorative programs are carried out consistently, safely, and in accordance with established plans of care
• Range of Motion (ROM) programs
• Splint and brace assistance, including amputation and prosthetic care
• Functional mobility, including transfers, bed mobility, and ambulation
• Positioning programs
• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting
• Eating and swallowing programs, including restorative/assisted dining and free-water programs
• Additional restorative programs that may include communication, breath support, wellness, and functional maintenance
• Support and coach Restorative Aides on program implementation, resident needs, documentation, and best practices
• Monitor restorative program participation and communicate opportunities for improvement or additional support
• Document resident attendance and participation in assigned restorative programs
• Communicate resident progress, improvements, concerns, or functional declines to the Rehab Director, restorative nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with the Rehab Director to schedule and prioritize workload
• Follow established infection-control procedures and universal precautions when exposure to bodily fluids or infectious or hazardous materials may occur
• Attend facility and TMC meetings, trainings, and educational programs as requested
• Maintain clean, organized treatment areas, equipment, and supplies
• Protect resident privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements
• Identify opportunities for continued professional growth and development
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current and active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Previous supervisory, leadership, or team oversight experience preferred, particularly within skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting
• Experience with geriatric wellness programs is encouraged
• Must be able to safely lift, turn, move, position, and transport residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, and other equipment without posing a risk to the health or safety of the employee, resident, caregivers, or coworkers
• Must be able to perform a minimum of a minimal-assist transfer, defined for purposes of this position as the ability to safely lift and control up to 50 pounds
