The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Telemetry Float Pool offers great exposure to various specialties while working in the Coly Rectal, Medical/Surgical, CTICU Stepdown, Neuro Stepdown, plus the Heart Failure and Stroke Units to build up your clinical knowledge. Fosters a collaborative team culture in a supportive environment. A high-speed environment to refine new graduate ability to transition into a competent nurse. Qualifications:

Required: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing Completion of all orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Successful completion of all orientation programs Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or currently matriculating C

ertifications and Licenses Required: Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Scheduling Requirements: Full-Time 7p - 8a 3 shifts per week 12.5 hr. shifts 37.5 hrs. Weekly Every other weekend required Essential Functions: All patient-related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff

Actively participates in discharge planning and, upon discharge, ensures a written teaching discharge plan has been developed for assigned patients concerning disease process, complications, medications, diet, physical activity and self-care needs.

Appropriately delegates but remain ultimately responsible

Assumes charge nurse functions as delegated by Nurse Manager, including assessing staffing needs, organizing and delegating work assignments based on patient acuity and individual staff skill levels

Completes daily patient classification according to facility policy

Completes unit-based competencies as per JCAHO requirements and hospital policy

Attends competency day and completes all required competencies in a satisfactory manner

Remains knowledgeable about all current nursing policies and procedures

Complies with Medication Reconciliation Policy Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines

Delivers individualized patient care consistent with established standards of care, policies and procedures and other regulatory standards

Demonstrates positive guest relations by introducing yourself to the patient and family

Orients patient and family to the nursing unit

Takes all appropriate measures to ensure patient satisfaction and the availability of the patient representative

Reports the patient's family problems to the nurse manager or her designee in a timely manner.

Demonstrates proficiency with phlebotomy sticks based on established policies and procedures

Demonstrates understanding of states blood administrative hospital procedure

Complies with blood and blood product administration policy

Determines the effectiveness of patient care through patient interviews, assessment and patient compliance to the plan of care and adjusts patient care to meet changing needs

Formulates and revises plan of care for assigned patients based on patient problems, patient age, nursing intervention, and specific outcomes

Identifies the patient's significant other needs for patient education and provides education utilizing appropriate educational modalities

Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide specific treatment and care

Initiates IV sticks, maintains IV sites and monitors IV fluids

Provides IV care and documents using established policies and procedures

Initiates or participates in continuous interdisciplinary quality improvement activities for the patient or department

Maintains complete, accurate, concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions and patient responses within tour of duty

Documents medications in accordance with nursing policy

Maintains the role of patient advocate and takes all appropriate measures to ensure patient safety

Uses good nursing judgment

Provides privacy and confidentiality and exhibits tact and compassion at all times, regardless of circumstances

Activates the chain of cnd when appropriate, on behalf of the patient's care needs

Recognizes signs and symptoms of complication of Pain Management Therapies and intervenes appropriately PCA PCEA Epidural block

States the proper mechanism for activating cardiac respiratory arrest

Demonstrates understanding of code cart check and procedure for replacing items on code cart

Transmits pertinent patient information to the appropriate individual MD, supervisor, discharge planner etc. using SBAR for hand-off communication

Uses an understanding of the principles of pain management to assess each patient's individual needs and provide appropriate and specific treatment and care

Utilizes all available resources in the initial assessment of the patient, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, discharge planning, self-care and education and reassessment each shift, upon transfer and discharge

Provides a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service

Adheres to patient rights and provides for the confidential treatment of all communications and records

Demonstrates professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers and supervisors

Listens and communicates effectively

Supports teamwork by cooperative problem-solving through participation in meetings, projects, etc.

Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions

Organizes work, sets priorities with a minimum of supervision and seeks guidance as appropriate

Makes decisions that are timely and consistent with department objectives, policies and procedures

Demonstrates sound judgment, accepts and benefits from constructive criticism

Participates in ongoing education as required

Demonstrates proficiency in the care of patients with the patient on mechanical vents and assists with weaning

Assisting with intubation and extubation

Demonstrates proficiency in the care of Telemetry patients and the related equipment needed to care for these patients: electrode placement, arrhythmia interpretation, code care, etc.

Demonstrates proper procedure for chest tube management, including proper set-up, drainage, and dressing procedure

Demonstrates understanding of proper airway management, suctioning, ABG values, applying supplemental oxygen, and trach care
