Typical wound focused SWOT RN hours will be M-F 8-4:30, however hour requirements may change based on department needs at discretion of nurse manager. Holiday coverage is covered by rotation of employees with 3 holidays needed per employee per year (timeframe is February to February). Wound focused SWOT nurses do rotate through weekend coverage. When scheduled to cover weekends SWOT nurse will have one day off the week prior to and after weekend coverage.
Job Description:
For this role, the Skin/Wound/Ostomy nurse’s primary duty will be to see wound patients in the inpatient setting. However, this nurse will also be cross trained in ostomy care.Education:
Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:
Preferred: One year of bedside nursing experience within the last five years
Preferred: Previous recent acute care med/surg nursing experience
Preferred: Wound and/or Ostomy experience
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
Exhibits valuable time management skills
Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri
Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
Required: Role within department is primarily focused in wound care, therefore must obtain CWCN from WOCNCB, CWS or WCC within 24 months of hire. If employee has a BSN, the CWCN certification is required instead of CWS or WCC.
