Make a Difference in Pediatric Orthopedic Care

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly organized and dedicated Registered Nurse II to join our Outpatient Orthopedic Sports Team.

This non-acute nursing role is an integral part of the care team supporting our pediatric hand surgical patient population. The RN will provide comprehensive care coordination, patient and family education, clinical triage, and collaboration with providers to ensure a seamless experience throughout the surgical journey.

This position offers the opportunity to work with patients and families across multiple outpatient locations, including Burnet, Green, Mason, and Liberty.

Your Schedule

• 32 hours per week / 0.8 FTE
• 4 days per week
• Day shift
• Schedule will vary based on clinic needs.
• Flexibility is required, as the RN is expected to remain until the clinic is completed each day.
• Travel between Eastgate, Crestview, Winslow, and Burnet outpatient locations is required.

What You'll Do

As an Orthopedic Outpatient RN II, you will:

• Coordinate care for pediatric patients undergoing Sports surgery, helping ensure continuity throughout the pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative journey.

• Support efficient clinic flow and promote a positive patient and family experience.

• Triage patient telephone calls, MyChart messages, and other clinical inquiries, assessing needs and responding appropriately.

• Coordinate patient needs with providers, surgical teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

• Assist with OR scheduling coordination and other surgical preparation activities.

• Manage clinical and administrative responsibilities, including:

• FMLA forms

• School forms

• MyChart messages

• Epic In-Basket tasks

• OR scheduling coordination

• Additional patient care and clinic-related documentation

• Educate patients and families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care, treatment plans, rehabilitation, and follow-up expectations.

• Provide guidance and support to families as they navigate the surgical process.

• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, therapists, surgical teams, and other multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.

• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

• Identify opportunities to improve care coordination, clinical workflows, and the patient and family experience.

• Adapt to changing clinic needs and priorities while maintaining a high level of patient and family service.

What You'll Bring

Required:

• Current Ohio Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization, and care coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to independently follow through on patient care needs.
• Ability and willingness to travel between outpatient locations as needed.
• Flexibility to remain in the clinic until patient care and clinic activities are completed.

Preferred:

• Pediatric nursing experience.
• Orthopedic or surgical nursing experience.
• Ambulatory or outpatient nursing experience.
• Experience with telephone triage, MyChart, Epic, and care coordination.
• Experience coordinating surgical patients or OR scheduling.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
