Overview of Unit/Department
Step Down Unit SDU / PCU
We call PCU our pendulum floor. It is for patients that don’t quite need CCU but are not well enough to move to med surg. There are 3-5:1 patient to nurse ratios on this floor. We have a tiered level of acuity - Gray patients: more acutely ill you will experience things like bipap initiation, cardiac and insulin gtts, these are where the patients that are likely to need hire level of care go for extra monitoring. White patients: are stroke, cardiac, respiratory, and telemetry. This floor experiences a lot of ETOH and drug withdrawal patients as their clinical condition can change rapidly.

Job Summary
Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.Education:
Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:
Preferred: Previous nursing experience
Skills:
