Position Summary
Penda Aiken, Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client is a State-operated Long-Term Care Facility seeking compassionate and qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver high-quality professional nursing care to residents.
The Registered Nurse coordinates, directs, and provides comprehensive direct care under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor and Director of Nursing. This includes conducting clinical assessments, developing and updating care plans, administering medications and treatments, delegating tasks to direct care staff, and advocating for resident care needs.
Multiple full-time and part-time openings are available across various shifts:
Day Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (Monday Friday) [2 FTEs]
Night Shift: 11:00 PM 7:30 AM (Monday Friday) [2 FTEs]
Weekend & Holiday Day Shifts: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (Saturdays, Sundays, & Holidays) [3 FTEs]
This role requires high reliability, clinical integrity, strong communication skills, and a dedication to resident health and quality of life.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care & Assessment: Conduct nursing assessments; obtain, record, and update resident vital signs and health records using standard clinical protocols.
Care Planning & Medication Administration: Prepare, implement, and modify nursing care plans; assist with examinations and treatments; administer prescribed medications and procedures.
Monitoring & Documentation: Observe and document symptoms, diet, physical activity, and changes in health status; maintain and update medical charts in compliance with state, federal, and agency guidelines.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as the nursing representative on treatment teams, consult on resident needs, make clinical rounds, and coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams.
Delegation & Supervision: Delegate clinical duties to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and direct care staff; perform clinical rounds to evaluate services provided; contribute to performance evaluations and reporting as required.
Health Education & Infection Control: Provide health instruction and education to residents and families; enforce infection control procedures and guide care staff.
Care Coordination: Act as a liaison with external providers to ensure continuity of care, resident advocacy, and follow-up for discharge planning.
Resource & Supply Management: Monitor medical inventory, solutions, and equipment to ensure standards and nursing care needs are continuously met.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure: Current license and registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in New York State.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: 1+ years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Specialized Settings: Prior experience in a long-term care setting with geriatric populations.
Veteran Care: Previous experience serving Veteran populations
