Position Description

Department: Student Health Center Salary: $56,800 - $64,600

Description:

Provides professional nursing care in an organized, effective manner in the general medicine and specialty clinics at the UH Student Health Center. Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of nursing theory. 1. Provides direct patient care under provider direction within scope of practice and standing orders, including assessment, treatment, monitoring, documentation, and RN?led services requiring independent nursing judgment. 2. Maintains readiness to identify and respond to emergent conditions through rapid triage, standing?order?based interventions, and escalation to a provider or higher level of care. 3. Educates students on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care to promote understanding, adherence, and informed decision making. 4. Acts as a clinical resource for providers and staff, supporting efficient workflows, emergency protocols, and evidence based patient care processes. 5. Advocates for patient safety by escalating concerns, participates in emergency preparedness activities and drills, and reports safety events as indicated. 6. Serves as relief Charge RN to support clinic operations and coordinates patient care and continuity through communication with external providers and agencies. 7. Maintains clinic readiness through oversight of supplies, equipment, and device inventories for assigned areas and facilitates maintenance and repair requests to support operations. 8. Delegates clinical tasks to support staff, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance through appropriate clinical oversight. 9. Supports quality assurance and performance improvement through quality analysis, reporting, and data visualization. 10. Participates in UH campus and community health fairs. 11. Performs other job related duties as assigned. MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Requires professional licensing, certification or registration directly related to the job, as specified on a job description addendum.
