Support the Next Generation of Practical Nurses

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve as a Substitute Clinical Instructor for our Practical Nursing (LPN) program. This PRN role is ideal for an RN who enjoys teaching and mentoring but prefers a flexible, as-needed schedule. You will step in to support clinical rotations, supervise students in patient-care environments, and ensure continuity of instruction when primary faculty are unavailable.

This position allows you to maintain your clinical practice while contributing meaningfully to nursing education.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate Clinical Learning - Arrange appropriate clinical experiences based on individual student needs.

  • Program Support - Assist in implementing and evaluating the Practical Nursing program's mission, objectives, and clinical standards.

  • Faculty Collaboration - Coordinate with ANIP and Clinical Faculty to maintain instructional consistency.

  • Policy Adherence - Follow all school and clinical facility policies and procedures.

  • Student Attendance & Documentation - Maintain attendance records and ensure compliance with established policies.

  • Performance Evaluation - Evaluate student progress using established clinical performance standards.

  • Student Support - Address concerns between students and institutional staff and provide guidance on clinical techniques and methods.

  • Progress Monitoring - Monitor weekly student progress and coordinate Academic Success Plans with the Clinical Director.

  • Professional Engagement - Attend faculty meetings when scheduled and maintain professionalism with students, staff, and clinical partners.

  • Maintain Clinical Competency - Stay current in clinical practice and remain informed of changes in the nursing profession.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing, or currently enrolled in a bachelor degree program in nursing, from a Nursing Education Program with a national nursing accreditation.

  • Three (3) years occupational (i.e., practical) experience as a nurse providing direct patient care.

  • One (1) year nursing teaching experience.

  • Current Colorado RN license and any other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws to work as a Registered Nurse in Colorado.

  • Verbal and written communications skills.

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and computer skills.

Why This Role Works

  • Flexible PRN schedule ideal for nurses balancing clinical work and teaching

  • Competitive hourly compensation

  • Opportunity to mentor future LPNs without full-time commitment

  • Supportive academic and clinical leadership team

  • Meaningful impact on student confidence, competence, and career readiness

About the Company

P

Pima Medical Institute

Pima Medical Institute started changing lives in 1972 when Richard Luebke Sr. and his wife, JoAnn, brought to life their dream of providing quality medical career education. They opened the first campus in Tucson, Arizona, preparing students to become nursing assistants. Eventually Richard Luebke Jr. and Mark Luebke took the helm, introducing more programs and opening additional campus locations to meet the country’s growing demand for quality healthcare professionals.

In 2015, Fred Freedman became Pima Medical’s President and Chief Executive Officer after serving the college as Chief Operating Officer. He has been with Pima Medical since June of 2000. He’s leading Pima Medical into the future, with growth, innovation and a keen eye on what healthcare providers need in great employees. We encourage you to become part of the Pima Medical Institute family, where you can help make a difference in the lives of our students today and educate future professionals.

As our community of students continues to grow, so does our community of talented staff. We truly believe that our people are the heart of our organization, and as we grow, we continue to hold ourselves accountable to the values that support those people.
