Under general supervisionoftheClinic Nurse Manager this positionwill work independently with other healthcare professionals to provide quality health care to community members and provide oversight toregister nurses andothermedical stafftoassure that clinic specific policies are followed.This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt

Essential Functions:Essential functions may vary among positions and may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics. Examples of Tasks

  1. Provides full administrative supervision and oversees the daily performance of all clinic registered nurses, Department of Corrections registered nurses and wound care registered nurses.

  2. Supervise staff in day-to-day functions including training and developing program goals, workflows, and objectives.

  3. Serves as a communication liaison with the Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, Registered nurses, and medical assistants.

  4. In coordination with the clinic nurse manager, prepare shift schedules for the day and assist with delegation within the clinic.

  5. Maintains assigned clinic oversite by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies/procedures.

  6. Participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting activities involving the registered nurses and other intra-departmental and interdepartmental staff.

  7. Follows all departmental and Community policies and procedures.

  8. Maintains department direction with River People Health Center objectives on standards of operations.

  9. Evaluates processes and procedures within scope of the assigned division operations for quality workflow processes, recommends changes to meet the organizational goals.

  10. Assist with education and development of competencies for each nurse or medical assistant.

  11. Observes policies, procedures and guidelines with respect to Vaccines for Children (VFC).

  12. Ensure staff are qualified and trained with tools to support successful execution of their duties by completing yearly competencies and providing training.

  13. Works in close collaboration multidisciplinary care team.

  14. Ensure that incomplete encounters are corrected, and staff understand the appropriate documentation needed for charting and billing purposes.

  15. All patient interactions will be conducted in accordance with HIPPA regulations to maintain patient confidence and protect confidential information.

  16. Maintain current and updated professional knowledge and proficiency of the scope of service of assigned division through continuing education, staff meetings, training and conferences, etc.

  17. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operation within primary care and walk-in clinic.

  • Knowledgeable on medication administration and documentation; assist with auditing charts for appropriate documentation and workflows.
  • Knowledge of the history, customs, culture, traditions and government of the Salt River Pima- Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Knowledge of medical, public health and social service resources available to Community members.
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and scope of practice for a professional registered nurse.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and agency laws and regulations governing professional nursing practice.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:Active unrestricted AZ Registered Nurse license.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Experience working with Native American Communities preferred.

  • Experience working in an ambulatory clinic settingas a Registered Nurse preferred.

  • Equivalency:Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.

  • Underfill Eligibility:An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.

Special Requirements

  • May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Employees in, and applicants applying for, jobs providing direct services to children are subject to the "Community Code of Ordinances", Chapter 11, "Minors", Article X. "Investigation of Persons Working With Children".
  • New hires in clinical roles must present valid BLS certification (Healthcare Provider BLS for clinicians) to the first day of patient care.
  • Ensures all patient information is kept confidential and complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and SRPMIC HHS policies and procedures.
