Job Description

Acts as administrative linkand supervises the overall provision of nursing care on all inpatientdisability units.Provides supervisionto employees; works with Nursing Administration to plan, establish and assureachievement of department goals, policies and procedures. Prepare for annual DOH Survey.Coordinates all nursing/patient activities;collaborates with Infection Prevention Nurse, Staff Development Coordinator,Nursing Performance Improvement Coordinator, MDS Coordinator and Director ofQuality/Outcome Management and other NAI’s as indicated.Direct line responsibility for projected andimmediate staffing, covers absences on all shifts as necessary.House supervision on a rotating basis.Completes probation reports, annualevaluations and submits LATS in a timely manner.Works closely with the Human ResourcesDepartment regarding employee relations and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Possession of alicense and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New YorkState; and two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience in an acuterehabilitation, acute inpatient critical care, or medical surgical setting.

A bachelor’sdegree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinicalnursing experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

ACLS,MSN, BS in health services or 30 credits towards a BSN or BS in healthservices.One year of supervisory experiencein acute care setting.Assertive andself-directed with knowledge of SNF regulations, PRIs, MDS and DOH annualsurveys and good communication skills.Managerial experience in staffing, scheduling and employeerelations.Demonstrates excellent leadershipskills.
