    Description

    Coordinates patient care activity on the phone and in the office and clinic, providing necessary support to the physician within established guidelines. Patient care activities within scope of nursing practice will include but are not limited to patient assessment, medication management, collaboration with healthcare providers, patient education, procedural management, and other duties as assigned.

    In addition to RN duties, this individual will provide quality patient care by building screening programs for aortic disease (e.g. aneurysm, aortic valve repair/replacement, Ross procedure) and pulmonary thromboendarterectomy patients. Work closely with physicians to identify initial qualifications for the programs. Identify patients within our population who meet the program criteria, sent out letters, schedule pre-visit testing, and conduct after care with patients. Catalog the entire process from an academic standpoint. Works cooperatively within own department and with other services to create a system of quality health care delivery. Demonstrates positive and effective working relationships with all health care team members.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provides compassionate and high quality nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit
    • Initiates and implements patient care plan.
    • Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
    • Maintains evidence-based standards of patient care.
    • Promotes a culture of patient safety when providing care.
    • Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
    • Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
    • Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
    • Administers medications and intravenous solutions safely and correctly.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelors Degree, Associates Degree, or diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
    • Current Maryland licensure or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
    • Two to three years clinical experience preferred
    • CPR certification is required

    Total Rewards

    The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidates geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
