Position Summary
Penda Aiken Inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn, New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join their team. They are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with an established, systematic problem-solving approach. All services must comply strictly with regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting.

The role is located at the Taberg Residential Center for Girls, situated northwest of the City of Rome in the central region of New York State. The facility serves female juvenile offenders placed in OCFS custody. Supervision staff will remain present at all times while the employee provides nursing care to youth.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Medication & Inventory Management: Conduct precise medication administration and maintain the general medical inventory, including strict oversight of controlled substances.

  • Nursing Care & Interventions: Review overall health conditions of youth by preparing, reviewing, and evaluating detailed nursing intervention plans.

  • Treatment Alignment: Ensure all administrative and clinical interventions are consistently aligned with the facility's comprehensive treatment plans.

  • Infection & Quality Control: Maintain rigorous infection control standards across all clinical activities and prepare required clinical and administrative reports.

  • Collaborative Care: Serve as an active member of the facility’s core medical treatment team and participate in mandatory facility staff trainings.

  • Additional day-to-day duties will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
Schedule & Facility Overview

  • Hours: 40 hours per week. Schedule requires working every other weekend pass days, with other pass days assigned based on facility needs.

  • Shift Flexibility (Choice of):

    • 4 Ten-Hour Shifts: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    • 5 Eight-Hour Shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Environment: Approximately 25 youth who may remain in custody up to the age of 21.

  • Logistics: Free on-site parking is provided. There are currently no vaccine requirements in place.

  • Dress Code: Business casual or professional scrubs.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must be currently licensed and registered to practice nursing (RN) in New York State. Candidates must maintain a valid, unencumbered NYS registration.
