Registered Nurse

The Floor RN is responsible for providing comprehensive geriatric nursing care, treatment, and services in a professional manner while ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and hygienic environment. This role involves delivering nursing care for infirm geriatric residents, supervising and training staff in resident care, and observing and assessing residents' behavior and physical conditions. When acting as the charge nurse, the Floor RN oversees the functions of all licensed staff on the unit as well as the Certified Nursing Assistants. Additionally, the role includes learning, implementing, and monitoring management system methods for continuous improvement.

Schedule

12-hour shifts from 6:00am to 6:30pm. Candidates must be available to work weekends.

Job Skills

• Administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of license.
• Receive and deliver information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs.
• Participate in the exchange of shift reports.
• Communicate with residents, family, and staff to ensure appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform initial admission nursing assessments and assist with care plans.
• Maintain clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, assessments, treatment, and progress.
• Lead and supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Conduct and participate in staff training and development programs.
• Utilize management concepts and tools for problem-solving and process improvements.
• Possess knowledge of geriatric nursing theory and practices, effects of aging, and team nursing procedures.
• Understand federal, state, and agency laws governing nursing practices and medication control.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills and build interpersonal relationships.
