Summary

Under the direction of the department manager and under supervision of a charge nurse, responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care throughout Carson Tahoe Urgent Cares. Proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contributes to the nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Maintains contact with the patient through personal encounters while working collaboratively with the Physician, Advanced Practice Clinicians, and Support Staff while to ensure high quality, responsive, and holistic patient care. Develops and participates in the care plan of the patient.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current and unencumbered licensure or Interim Permit as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers Certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for healthcare providers
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers

Preferred

  • One (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Essential Functions

  • Performs assessment and evaluation of the patient by assessing vital signs, notes changes, and pursues more specific investigation as needed.
  • Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to the physician and others caring for the patient, and by incorporating information in the nursing care plan.
  • Adheres to performing/receiving bedside handover as per organizational standards.
  • Uses assessment information to develop a care plan that communicates enough information for incoming personnel to adequately care for the patient.
  • Documents an individualized care plan based upon the changing needs of the patient and incorporates each patients' chronic and acute conditions.
  • Consistently follows established standards, policies and procedures in providing nursing care.
  • Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients, including supervision of non-professional personnel.
  • Identifies patient teaching needs and provides elementary instructions for the patient and his or her family.
  • Notes discharge planning elements and incorporates these in care plans.
  • Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations.
  • Evaluates and notes the individual patient's response to nursing care defined in the nursing care plan and medical records.
  • The RN will be expected to make evidence-based practice recommendations for improvement of the delivery of patient care via the patient care conference and unit conference.
  • Demonstrates proficiency as defined in the position/group/department checklists and unit specific competency standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
