QualDerm Partners is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Omni Cosmetic team in Wayzata, Minnesota. QualDerm Partners is committed to supporting patients’ lifelong skin and aesthetics wellness through exceptional care in dermatology, skin cancer treatment, cosmetics, and plastic surgery.
In this hands-on role, you will provide skilled clinical care and a steady, reassuring presence throughout the patient experience—from preoperative preparation and procedure assistance to recovery, wound care, and follow-up education. You will work closely with physicians and other clinical team members to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
This clinic-based position supports in-office procedures and postoperative care, with additional responsibilities in our ambulatory surgery center and medspa as needed. The role includes coverage at our Wayzata and St. Cloud locations and some scheduled Saturdays.
Schedule
This is primarily a Monday–Friday position, with regular hours of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Some flexibility is needed to support postoperative patient care, including:
- An occasional 7:00 a.m. start for postoperative appointments
- Approximately one Saturday morning per month for follow-up visits after Friday procedures
- Assistance with postoperative calls on surgery days, typically between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m.
These schedule variations are based on patient-care needs and are communicated in advance whenever possible.
Support the Complete Surgical Experience
- Review and complete required surgical documentation before appointments, including test results, consultations, correspondence, and other preoperative information.
- Identify missing tests, consultations, or orders; determine needed services according to practice protocol; and coordinate with the medical provider before the patient’s visit.
- Prepare patients for and assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and other in-office clinical procedures, including sterile setup and instrument handling.
- Assist in the ambulatory surgery center as needed.
- Administer injections and local anesthesia as directed and within your authorized scope of practice.
- Care for patients during immediate postoperative recovery in the post-anesthesia care unit when covering the surgery center.
- Follow postoperative plans of care developed by the interdisciplinary team and modify or coordinate treatment-plan changes as directed based on the patient’s response and condition.
- Provide postoperative wound care and conduct follow-up visits, including incision checks, dressing and drain management, and suture removal as directed.
- Make postoperative check-in calls after discharge to assess recovery, reinforce instructions, and escalate concerns to the surgeon.
- Educate patients and caregivers using clear verbal and written instructions about medications, products, procedures, specialty pharmacy services, recovery expectations, and postoperative wound care.
- Communicate test results and coordinate additional surgical treatments or appointments as directed by the provider.
Deliver Attentive Clinical Care
- Welcome and escort patients to examination rooms while helping them feel comfortable and informed.
- Record the chief complaint, history of present illness, medical and surgical history, medications, vital signs, and visit details in the electronic medical record.
- Review medical histories, assess patients’ clinical status, and help them understand when further evaluation or treatment may be needed.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions as authorized by the provider, organizational policy, and applicable scope-of-practice requirements.
- Respond to patient calls, voicemails, clinical questions, and telephone triage needs.
- Triage reports of suspected infection and promptly escalate concerns to the operating surgeon.
- Draw blood in the clinic or medspa and provide other clinical services as directed.
- Process prescriptions and refill requests under provider direction and within your authorized scope of practice.
- Capture, upload, retrieve, and organize clinical photographs in the patient record, including displaying images on an iPad or other approved device during patient care.
- Verify that patient and specimen information corresponds with collected tissue, then document specimens in the appropriate log.
- Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and controlled-substance requirements.
- Clean, process, and sterilize clinical instruments according to infection-control protocols.
- Monitor clinical supplies and work with the care team to maintain efficient patient flow and timely appointments.
