Health insurance benefit plans eligibility begins on the first of the month following date of hire. Full time employees are also eligible for the tuition waiver program which covers the cost of tuition and fees for up to three (3) undergraduate or graduate courses per academic year at UNCW or any other university within the UNC System. In addition, UNCW covers the cost of tuition and fees for one UNCW course each summer session.

The Registered Nurse functions as a member of a clinical team in the provision of healthcare in a fast-paced college health center. Responsibilities include obtaining pertinent medical information during check-in; educating patients; providing care and treatment consistent with nursing practice and theory; administering Immunizations and allergy shots; and performing basic laboratory tests. The nurse must demonstrate the ability to accurately assess a patient's medical condition and may assume a lead role in the clinic whenever necessary.
Additional responsibilities include serving in the nurse triage rotation, providing backup support to laboratory services, including the performance and processing of commonly ordered clinic tests. The nurse also performs key administrative tasks such as processing referrals in coordination with the medical records unit, assisting with prior authorizations for insurance, and supporting an assigned physician or mid-level provider through patient communication, care coordination, sharing normal lab results, and facilitating follow-up. The nurse may also draft forms for provider review and approval, including emergency department and communicable disease documentation.

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
