The Seasonal Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting prescription processing, insurance verification, claims resolution, prior authorizations, and pharmacy routing activities that help patients gain timely access to medications.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and experienced in navigating pharmacy operations, insurance workflows, and medication access processes within a fast-paced remote environment.
Process and enter electronic, faxed, and verbal prescription orders within pharmacy systems.
Review, verify, and update patient insurance information using payer portals and phone resources.
Determine when prior authorizations are required and submit authorization requests through payer-specific portals and vendor platforms.
Monitor, track, and troubleshoot prior authorization requests, claim rejections, denials, and escalations.
Resolve prescription processing issues by coordinating with provider offices, insurance carriers, and pharmacy partners.
Route and reroute prescriptions appropriately based on insurance requirements, pharmacy network restrictions, state regulations, transfer issues, and operational workflows.
Review clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to authorization submission.
Navigate multiple pharmacy, operational, and vendor systems simultaneously while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
Document all activities, communications, and case updates thoroughly within company systems.
Collaborate with internal teams to address patient access barriers, pharmacy inventory issues, system outages, and other operational challenges.
Communicate professionally with prescribers, pharmacies, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Follow established workflows, quality standards, and compliance requirements while maintaining productivity expectations.
Support additional operational functions as business needs require.
Active Pharmacy Technician license in state of residence.
Minimum one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, specialty, mail-order, PBM, or healthcare-related environment.
Experience with prescription processing, insurance verification, claims resolution, prior authorizations, or medication access support.
Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and prescription workflows.
Ability to navigate multiple software systems, payer portals, and operational platforms simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Reliable high-speed internet connection and dedicated remote workspace.
PTCB Certification (preferred)
Experience with specialty pharmacy, manufacturer support programs, or patient access services.
Working knowledge of:
Insurance claim rejections and override processes
Prior authorizations and appeals
ICD-10 codes and prescription drug terminology
Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
Pharmacy claims adjudication and reimbursement processes
FSA/HSA payment considerations
Customer service or patient support experience.
