The Radiologic Technologist (R) works under the supervision of the Manager. The technologist is responsible for performing a variety of procedures requiring independent judgement and knowledgeable performance. The technologist will operate equipment safely producing quality images for diagnostic purposes and maintain equipment and supplies. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and fellow staff. Skills and Abilities Essential Technical/Motor Skills Inputting data, calibrating equipment, answering telephone, speaking clearly, manipulating small items, fine motor skills, knowledge of body mechanics and CPR. Essential Physical Requirements Moving equipment, pushing, pulling, lifting 35 lbs., walking, restraining, standing, and kneeling. Essential Mental Abilities Manipulate numbers, explain procedures, evaluate patient's condition and take immediate action, calculating exposure factors. Essential Sensory Requirements Visual skills to read equipment settings, hear audio signals, reading computer screens. Exposure to Hazards Radiation, body fluids, needle punctures, hazardous materials. Other Skills and Abilities Caregiver must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in all age groups. Interpret a provider''s instructions. Explain procedures to patients; verifies accuracy of patient information in the file. Prepare patients for procedures. Select imaging parameters. View images from an imaging session and keep records of the results. Review and complete patient exam and charges within the radiology information system. Performs necessary clerical duties as needed to support procedures and department/clinic operations. Other duties as assigned Education Completion of Radiologic Technology program. - Required Work Experience 2 Years - Radiology experience - Preferred Licenses and Certifications Radiography (R ) - Required Upon Hire Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days Travel Requirements Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required Interpret a provider''s instructions. Explain procedures to patients; verifies accuracy of patient information in the file. Prepare patients for procedures. Select imaging parameters.
