Job Summary and Qualifications JOB SUMMARY: Administers floor and critical care therapy modalities. Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis and instrument QC. Responds to cardiopulmonary arrests. Maintains and processes equipment. Provides specialized service to the department. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS() 1. Administers all therapy modalities to patients per physician orders. 2. Ensures safe and appropriate oxygen administrations through the Oxygen Therapist Driven Protocol. 3. Able to set up and operate CPAP/BiPAP. 4. Able to perform non-invasive SpO2 monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous and spot checks. 5. Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis. 6. Initiates, operates and monitors Adult mechanical ventilators. 7. Responds and participates in all code blue situations. 8. Adheres to established quality control protocol. 9. Performs basic operations on the Meditech system. 10. Performs regular equipment rounds. 11. Able to assist in bedside therapeutic bronchoscopies. 12. Able to assist with Pulmonary Rehabilitation. 13. Able to precept new employees or staff members entering into a new area of training. 14. Fulfills staff meeting, inservice, competency and on-going education requirements. 15. Maintains certificate and license requirements. 16.* Provides specialized service to the department through A) Diagnostic, B) Clinical I, C) Clinical II or D) Educational avenues. To qualify, one must provide one starred item from categories A or B or provide 5 items from any combination of categories. What qualifications you will need: EDUCATION: Required: High School Graduate and Graduate Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Preferred: High School Graduate and Graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) EXPERIENCE: Required: One year critical care experience. Preferred: One year NICU/PICU experience. Knowledge and experience in basic floor care and mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, capnography and oximetry equipment.
