Novant Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist for night shift coverage at our Scotts Hill facility within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based respiratory care to patients across a variety of acuity levels, including emergency, critical care, and general medical-surgical units. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, and deliver individualized respiratory treatments that support Novant Health’s mission of improving health through advanced technology and personalized, compassionate care.
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist on the night shift, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive respiratory assessments, interpreting clinical data, and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, chest physiotherapy, non‑invasive and invasive ventilator management, and airway clearance techniques. You will monitor patient responses, adjust therapy based on clinical condition and provider orders, and promptly recognize and respond to changes in respiratory status, including respiratory distress and code situations.
You will manage and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment, ensure proper setup and operation of devices such as BiPAP/CPAP, high‑flow oxygen systems, and suction equipment, and follow strict infection prevention and safety standards in alignment with Novant Health’s culture of safety. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record, adherence to departmental protocols and regulatory requirements, and participation in quality improvement initiatives are integral aspects of this position.
This night shift role requires an individual who can work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment. You will communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues, provide education on respiratory therapies and equipment use, and support discharge planning by teaching patients and caregivers about home respiratory care when applicable. You will contribute to a positive work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect, reflecting Novant Health’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive culture for both patients and team members.
Novant Health offers opportunities for ongoing professional development, including exposure to advanced respiratory modalities, participation in clinical projects, and collaboration with an engaged and innovative care team. The Registered Respiratory Therapist – Scotts Hill Nights position is well‑suited for individuals who are detail‑oriented, committed to continuous learning, and motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes during the night shift, when critical thinking, autonomy, and reliability are essential.
