Summary:

The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasound waves. Where the incumbent is a licensed "General Radiology Technologist." May be required to perform x-ray procedures at the same level of performance prescribed for a Staff Radiology Technologist.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • AAS degree required, BS in Medical Diagnostic Sonography preferred
  • BLS recommended
  • ARDMS RVT certification required

EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) year working experience as Ultrasound Staff Technologist or one (1) year clinical experience as a graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography program that includes a clinical internship
  • Within three (3) months of hire, employee should be able to perform examinations in an acceptable manner

  • Ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work requires precision in recording and preparing data, recognizing that errors may have serious consequences for patients
  • Must pay strict attention to detail and maintain alertness to detect evidence of irregularities in images as well as equipment malfunctions
  • These must be communicated to a Supervisor/Manager and a call must be placed for maintenance
  • Must be organized in maintaining workflow
  • Must possess patience and maturity in dealing with patients and families as well as medical staff and other practice personnel
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Required to travel to other Trinity Medical affiliated locations
  • May be exposed to infectious disease processes

ENVIRONMENT

  • Intermittent exposure to a few unpleasant physical conditions
  • Frequently required to work in rooms with low-level lighting or inappropriate lighting
  • Subjected to variations in temperature secondary to excess heat generated by ultrasound machines
  • Exposure to patients who may be confused or combative
