Are you an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician looking to work in a positive, supportive, and collaborative environment? Livewell Animal Hospital - Chevy Chase is seeking an LVT with 1-2 years of experience to join our close-knit and dedicated team.

  • Modern State-of-the-Art Facility: Opened in December 2024, our newly built hospital is thoughtfully designed with separate dog, cat, and exotic animal spaces, including species-specific exam rooms and hospitalizations. Fear Free and low-stress handling practices are deeply ingrained in our approach-we even have Feliway diffusers and Thundershirts on hand.
  • Team Culture: We are small but mighty, with a calm collective vibe and a strong focus on communication. We address concerns proactively and maintain an open-door policy to ensure our team feels heard and supported.

We close the clinic for half-days once a month or so to encourage team bonding and community engagement, and yes, its paid.

What We Offer

  • Exposure to a variety of cases: wellness, urgent care, soft tissue surgery, dental, digital X-rays, ultrasound, radiology, and exotics.
  • EZYVet software and in-house IDEXX lab.
  • Team of Fear Free Certified Professionals - we will cover your certification if youre not already certified.
  • Emphasis on technician utilization, including dental charting, scaling, polishing, and digital dental radiographs.
  • Compensation of $28 - $35.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) - Maryland state credential required.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a small animal hospital (no new grads at this time).

Responsibilities and Benefits

Position Skills

  • Professional client communication and education, obtaining medical histories and symptoms.
  • Laboratory procedures including but not limited to hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals.
  • Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members.
  • Nursing skills including restraining patients, administering medications (PO, IV, SUBQ, IM), applying and maintaining bandages, proficient IV catheter placement, and venipuncture.
  • Surgery prep and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Proficient in dental prophylaxis.

Position Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) or the ability to transfer credentials from state to state.
  • Associates degree in Veterinary Technology.
  • An interest in exotic veterinary medicine.
  • 4 ten-hour shifts with an off day on Wednesday; rotating Saturday morning shifts.
  • Pay range of $28.00 - $35.00/hour based on experience.
