The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care for small animals, primarily dogs and cats, within a small team environment. This position involves assisting veterinarians with routine and emergency surgical procedures, dental care, diagnostic imaging, and general medical treatment. The RVT ensures the well-being of patients through precise medical procedures, client communication, and maintenance of accurate records.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate animal care and handle small animal patients safely
Administer vaccines, and treatments as directed
Assist in routine, emergency, and dental surgical procedures
Perform laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging support
Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during medical procedures
Administer medications and manage patient recovery
Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient care and treatment
Ensure sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment
Maintain accurate and organized patient records
Respond promptly to veterinary emergencies
Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in veterinary technology
Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology
Proficient in animal handling and laboratory techniques
Experience in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
Knowledgeable in pharmacology and medication administration
Strong skills in record management and client communication
Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations
Demonstrated team collaboration within a small veterinary team
