Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT

The Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care for small animals, primarily dogs and cats, within a small team environment. This position involves assisting veterinarians with routine and emergency surgical procedures, dental care, diagnostic imaging, and general medical treatment. The RVT ensures the well-being of patients through precise medical procedures, client communication, and maintenance of accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate animal care and handle small animal patients safely
• Administer vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Assist in routine, emergency, and dental surgical procedures
• Perform laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging support
• Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during medical procedures
• Administer medications and manage patient recovery
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient care and treatment
• Ensure sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment
• Maintain accurate and organized patient records
• Respond promptly to veterinary emergencies
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in veterinary technology
• Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology
• Proficient in animal handling and laboratory techniques
• Experience in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
• Knowledgeable in pharmacology and medication administration
• Strong skills in record management and client communication
• Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations
• Demonstrated team collaboration within a small veterinary team
