Registered Veterinary Technician – Surgery (Relief)

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to support our Surgery Service in a fast‑paced, 24‑hour specialty hospital environment. This is a relief position ideal for an RVT who thrives in surgery, values teamwork, and is passionate about excellent patient and client care.
About the Role
As a Surgery RVT, you will play a critical role in supporting surgical patients from admission through recovery. You’ll work closely with surgeons, DVMs, and fellow technicians to deliver high‑quality medical care, while also providing empathetic, professional communication to clients during emotional and often urgent situations.
This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and a positive, solutions‑focused mindset.
Pay: up to $37/hr depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Deliver exceptional nursing care with a strong emphasis on patient comfort and safety
- Assist with anesthesia, CPR, imaging procedures, laboratory services, and surgical protocols
- Accurately complete treatment sheets, invoicing, and medical documentation (DVMax experience preferred)
- Client Communication skills
Schedule & Availability
- Flexible scheduling required; shifts may include nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
- Friday availability is especially important
- Due to the 24‑hour hospital setting, shifts may extend beyond scheduled times during high caseload periods
Qualifications
- Active California RVT license required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, emotionally demanding environment
- Strong animal handling, communication, and teamwork skills
- Comfort using medical terminology and basic computer systems
- Excellent attention to detail and follow‑through
