    Description

    Summary

    Scenic Bluffs is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Registration Professional to join our team in La Crosse. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience while supporting the registration, scheduling, and financial processes that contribute to exceptional patient care.

    The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering outstanding customer service.

    Patient Registration & Reception

    • Provide access to patients when operational hours extend before or after normal business hours.
    • Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
    • Register new and returning patients accurately and efficiently.
    • Create and maintain patient health records in accordance with organizational procedures.
    • Assist patients in completing required registration and consent forms.
    • Verify and update demographic and insurance information.
    • Assist patients with mobility or ambulatory challenges as needed and in a safe manner.

    Insurance & Financial Services

    • Verify insurance eligibility using electronic verification tools and document findings appropriately.
    • Communicate patient financial responsibilities at the time of check-in.
    • Obtain and document third-party billing information.
    • Accept, process, and accurately record patient payments while providing receipts.
    • Collaborate with the Finance team regarding outstanding balances, billing questions, and insurance-related concerns.

    Scheduling & Communication

    • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments using the electronic scheduling system.
    • Notify appropriate staff of same-day appointments and cancellations.
    • Answer incoming telephone calls, screen inquiries, take messages, and provide information to patients and providers.
    • Respond to routine patient and visitor requests in a professional and helpful manner.

    Administrative Support

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and lobby area.
    • Retrieve, sort, and distribute interoffice correspondence as needed.
    • Prepare deposits and distribute documentation as appropriate.
    • Support organizational operations through additional administrative duties as assigned.

    Professional Responsibilities

    • Maintain CPR certification as provided by the Health Center.
    • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all privacy regulations.
    • Promote and demonstrate the organization's mission, vision, and values in all interactions.
    • Participate as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.
    • Assist in other departmental requests as needed.

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to patient-centered service. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, initiative, and problem-solving abilities while maintaining positive working relationships with patients, staff, and the public. Preferred qualifications include:

    • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Basic understanding of healthcare office operations and accounting processes.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

    Education & Experience Required

    • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    Education & Experience Preferred

    • Associate degree in Medical Secretary, Medical Administrative Specialist, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Previous experience in a medical office, healthcare registration, patient access, or customer service role.
