Job Title: Registry Intern (Part-Time)
Department: Registry
Reports to: Registrar
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: $10/hour
Schedule: Part-Time, 10–15 hours/week

Position Summary

The Registry Intern supports the Registry Department by assisting with document processing, data entry, and member communication related to horse registrations and records. This position offers hands-on experience with registry operations including ownership transfers, DNA processing, and stallion service report tracking. The intern will also support outbound outreach to members to ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with entering and processing applications for horse registrations.
  • Support the processing of transfers of ownership and name changes.
  • Prepare and track DNA kit orders; upload and organize DNA results.
  • Input and update stallion service reports in the database.
  • Organize, scan, and file registry-related documents accurately.
  • Conduct outbound outreach to members and breeders to follow up on incomplete or missing documentation.
  • Respond to basic member inquiries and direct more complex questions to Registry staff.
  • Perform other clerical tasks and departmental support duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and emails to members and breeders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in the equine industry or nonprofit administration is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based at the ASHBA headquarters and operates in a standard office environment. Regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
