REGULAR BUS MONITOR 2026-2027

Job Title: Bus Monitor Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt

Reports to: Driver Supervisor Pay Grade: 2

Dept. /School: Transportation Days: 184

Primary Purpose: Safely transport students to and from school and to extracurricular activities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Pass pre-employment drug test and background check
• Receive training on student management techniques

Special Knowledge Skills:

• Ability to manage, communicate, and interact with bus students of all ages in a professional manner

Experience:

• Experience working with children preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitor students to ensure safety and order during the bus ride
• Maintain required records
• Assist in keeping the inside of the bus clean

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Manage the bus riders while on the route

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
