LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Department of the Environment Air and Radiation Administration Climate Change Division Air Quality Compliance Program 1800 Washington Blvd. Baltimore, MD 21230
Main Purpose of Job The Regulatory and Compliance Engineer II will review technical engineering evaluations and ensure compliance with Maryland laws and regulations related to air pollution and greenhouse gases, specifically focusing on the Maryland Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS).
Marylands BEPS regulations require owners of covered buildings to submit energy benchmarking reports to MDE each year beginning in 2025 and meet phased performance standards beginning in 2030. The Compliance Engineer provides regulatory compliance assistance to building owners, reviews technical reports, performs inspections, responds to complaints and inquiries, and pursues enforcement actions when necessary.
The Air Quality Compliance Programs Climate Change Division works to improve the health and welfare of people and the environment while developing a dynamic clean energy economy in Maryland.
This position may involve the following working conditions:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education A Bachelors degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
Experience One year of engineering or architectural experience in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, or public health and safety to ensure regulatory compliance with engineering or architectural standards, practices, principles, and methods.
