Job Summary and Qualifications

The Manager of Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation is responsible for administration and oversight of all activities concerning the achievement of continuous regulatory and accreditation readiness, quality excellence, and corporate safety compliance for the organization. The role provides oversight for matters including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), and other external agencies for regulatory compliance. This position works closely with the quality and safety department, facility leadership, and department leaders across the organization to support facilitation, development, and implementation of systems to ensure compliance with external accrediting and regulatory bodies, while driving process improvement and safety across the facility. 

  • You will provide administration and oversight of all activities concerning the achievement of continuous regulatory and survey readiness. Ensures strategic and operational implementation of regulatory requirements, guidelines, and standards of federal, state, and local licensing agencies, as well as accrediting and certifying organizations. 
  • You will direct strategic and operational implementation of regulatory requirements, guidelines, and standards of federal, state, and local licensing agencies, accrediting and certifying organizations, along with safety policies and procedures and professional standards of the organization. 
  • You will assist in the establishment of operational performance measurements and the monitoring of trends in key performance indicators to evaluate effectiveness, reliability, and efficiency. 
  • You will maintain knowledge of current accreditation and regulatory trends, guidance, standards, and requirements to ensure facility survey readiness and compliance. 
  • You will establish and maintain a proactive system for continual survey readiness with key stakeholders and department leaders. Manages the system’s tracer process and audits where appropriate. Recommend monitoring activities and determine the effectiveness of interventions to meet desired outcomes. 
  • You will develop and lead CMS, TJC, and state hospital licensure regulatory and quality compliance plan for the organization. 
  • You will monitor the organization’s survey readiness activities for compliance. 
  • You will identify opportunities and notify appropriate leaders of necessary changes. 
  • You will serve as an internal resource to address and resolve any accreditation questions or issues. 
  • You will coach others in the development of accreditation improvement capabilities. 
  • You will identify areas of improvement for the organization based on the information that flows through this position, working with others in the organization to encourage improvement.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge and application of TJC standards and elements of performance, CMS Conditions of Participation, and state hospital licensure requirements. 
  • You will oversee activities related to safety regulations, ensuring that all TJC, CMS, and state guidelines for the physical Environment of Care standards at the facility remain compliant. 
  • You will prepare and distribute accurate and timely reports on quality and survey monitoring efforts regarding regulatory requirements and standards. 
  • You will manage post-survey activities. Work with key stakeholders to identify and address areas of non-compliance and to develop, submit, and implement plans of correction. Oversee post-survey compliance activities to ensure successful implementation of process changes. Monitor re-evaluation results to ensure performance improvement. 
  • You will develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with other key stakeholders, including infection prevention, nursing, patient safety, facilities, etc. 

What qualifications you will need: 

  • 1+ years of experience of technical and managerial experience in accreditation required 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required 
  • Registered Nurse license in Texas. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained upon hire.
