Position Summary

This position serves as the Regulatory and Training Manager within the Department of Neurology's Neurosciences Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU). The role is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership across clinical research regulatory management, onboarding of new research personnel, and the development and delivery of ongoing training and professional development programs.

The Regulatory and Training Manager functions as the regulatory subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements. This position oversees regulatory processes and promotes adherence to best practices while integrating regulatory knowledge into onboarding and continuous education initiatives for research staff.

A key responsibility of this role is to design, implement, and evaluate structured onboarding programs for new research personnel, ensuring consistent and compliant start-to-role experience. In addition, the position develops and delivers ongoing training programs to support workforce competency and regulatory excellence across the NCTU.

The Manager collaborates closely with NCTU leadership to assess training needs, establish program objectives, and deliver targeted education to a diverse audience, including faculty, fellows, residents, and research staff. Through instruction, coaching, and mentorship, this role supports all levels of clinical research regulatory practice. The position leads efforts to disseminate clinical research regulatory knowledge throughout the department by developing training resources, facilitating workshops, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and compliance.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Must be able to use considerable judgement and skills in performing work assignments.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally.
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in research regulatory activities.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of University structure, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • UNC experience preferred.
