Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher to work at a facility in Lakeville, MN.

Pay Rate: $47.50 / hour

Special Education Teacher
A Lakeville Area School District Special Education Teacher for a DCD (Developmental Cognitive Delay) Center would be responsible for creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with developmental disabilities, teaching academic and life skills, managing the classroom, and assessing student progress. Key qualifications include holding or being eligible for a Minnesota Special Education license (specifically for Developmental Disabilities, K-12) and having knowledge of applicable laws, behavior management, and curriculum development.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and evaluate lessons and activities to meet students' individual learning needs.
• Adapt general and specialized curriculum to meet the needs of students with developmental disabilities.
• Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal laws.
• Assess student achievement, learning, and progress through various methods.
• Maintain student records and reports in accordance with district and state regulations.
• Manage classroom behavior proactively and implement appropriate behavior management plans.
• Collaborate with students, families, other teachers, and support staff to ensure student success.
• Utilize technology, such as iPads, to individualize instruction.
Qualifications and requirements
• Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for a Minnesota Special Education license in the area of Developmental Disabilities (K- 12).
• Experience: Previous experience working with students with disabilities is likely required, with a focus on high school students for some roles.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of learning theories, curriculum development, and student assessment methods.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding special education.
• Behavior Management: Proficiency in classroom and behavior management principles and practices.
• Technology: Ability to operate computers and applicable software.
