Rehab Student Extern - UPMC Washington

Kickstart your rehabilitation career with UPMC Washington as a Rehab Student Extern! Work directly with skilled therapy professionals, gain real-world healthcare experience, and help support patients on their journey to recovery in a collaborative and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities:

• Observes and assists Therapists with patient care throughout treatment program.
• Assists Therapists in use and care of machinery and equipment.
• Assists for safety purpose with transfers, transport, treatment preparation, and ambulation of patients under direct supervision of Rehabilitation Therapists (OT, PT, Speech.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly working area.
• Maintains state of the art knowledge of discipline specific skills, techniques, and job-related duties and responsibilities.
• Attends continuing education courses, workshops, and seminars ae required.

Will be working with Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists so preference is for students looking to enter these fields

Schedule: Primarily rotating weekends and as needed during the week and over breaks/holidays. Typical shifts include weekends from 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM or 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM, and weekdays between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with shifts ranging from 3 to 8 hours.

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or current high school senior and 18 years of age required.
• Acceptance/attendance at a post-secondary educational institution in a health related/science field required. PT, OT, Speech, or Rehab field preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• BLS certification or achievement within thirty (30 days of employment required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
