Rehabilitation Specialist: The Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for providing rehabilitation services to members receiving Adult SMI services, including a focus on gaining competitive employment, engaging in psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and/or achieving educational goals.  This position is responsible for developing and sustaining a culture of employment or active engagement as an integral part of recovery.

Duties include:
  • Manages a flexible caseload, including a mix of employment-related rehabilitation and psychosocial rehabilitation. The caseload size is determined based on a dynamic review of both the clinical needs and resources available.
  • Provides and tracks detailed information on all employment-related engagement and caseload.
  • Utilizes psychiatric rehabilitation best practices, including evidence-based employment practices, to assess participants' needs and emphasize a philosophy that assists individuals in reaching their desired outcome.
  • Educates and assists participants in identifying the resources needed to obtain and maintain employment, including groups and workshops.
  • Provides limited coaching until services for job coaching can be obtained by an employment provider agency.
  • Utilizes available tools to screen and assess participants for employment and psychosocial rehabilitation opportunities, e.g. Meaningful Community Activity Worksheet (MCAW), readiness assessment, vocational profile, etc.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Manager in identifying participants for the employment and psychosocial caseloads.
  • Guides, educates, and trains Case Manager team members on how to make referrals and coordinate services for routine psychosocial rehabilitation activities.
  • Mentors new Rehabilitation Specialist staff, as needed.
  • Will inquire about the client’s health & wellness needs and assist in coordinating those primary care or other supportive services with appropriate JFCS staff or external parties.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in behavioral-health field preferred; a combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in behavioral health, preferably providing vocational and/or rehabilitation services to adults diagnosed with a serious mental illness.
  • Understanding and application of best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation, particularly around employment.
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric conditions.
  • Sound judgment and time management skills.
