Home Health Reimbursement Specialist – Billing & Collections

Job Summary
We're looking for an experienced Home Health Reimbursement Specialist with a strong background in medical billing and collections. This position focuses heavily on collections, claims follow-up, and reimbursement from commercial insurance payers.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with excellent critical thinking skills, strong follow-up abilities, and experience working with clearinghouses and commercial insurance payers. Hospice or Medicare Part A billing experience is a plus!
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor insurance claim status and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Research and resolve claim rejections, denials, and returned claims.
- Perform collections to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance providers.
- Work directly with commercial payers and clearinghouses to resolve claim issues.
- Audit accounts and perform mathematical calculations to identify discrepancies.
- Accurately document account activity, collections, and claim status.
- Maintain organized records while ensuring compliance with billing policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve reimbursement issues efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one (1) year of current medical billing or reimbursement experience
- Strong billing and collections experience
(Collections experience is the primary focus of this role.) - Commercial insurance payer experience required
- Experience working with clearinghouses
Knowledge of:
- Medical claims billing
- Medical terminology
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
Strong computer skills, including:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Medical billing software
- Database applications
- Typing speed of at least 30 WPM
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable making outbound calls and following up with insurance payers
