Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting entries and account reconciliations related to ceded/assumed reinsurance activity, including premiums, allowances, settlements, reserves, and receivables arising under treaty agreements.
Support the monthly and quarterly financial close process through the preparation of accurate and timely reinsurance accounting and supporting analyses.
Assist with the preparation of U.S. GAAP and Statutory financial reporting related to reinsurance transactions and balances.
Reconcile reinsurance activity with actuarial reporting, policy administration systems, and general ledger balances.
Prepare settlement statements and coordinate timely settlement of balances with reinsurance counterparties.
Support the onboarding and implementation of new reinsurance treaties and third-party reinsurance arrangements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Actuarial, Investments, and Operations teams, as well as external reinsurance partners.
Help identify and implement process improvements, controls, and reporting infrastructure to support the team as it scales.
Assist with ad hoc requests, audit support, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience in reinsurance accounting required, ideally gained within the life and annuity insurance industry.
Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting principles as they relate to reinsurance.
CPA (active or in progress) preferred, but not required.
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external counterparties.
